Fishermen's Buddy is a personal fishing log and forecast app. You log your catches; it automatically records the tide, weather, moon phase, and other conditions behind each one, then uses your own history to predict when and where the bite will be good — for the specific species you target, in your specific waters.
Fishermen's Buddy is free to download, and you can log your first 25 catches at no cost. After that, unlimited catch logging is available for $1.99/month, $19.99/year, or a one-time $49.99 lifetime purchase — whichever you prefer. Everything you've already logged always stays free to view.

No — every species starts from sensible defaults based on fish biology and regional seasonality, so you get useful forecasts from day one. The more you log, the more the app leans on your own results instead of the general estimate.
Live weather comes from Open-Meteo's public weather API. Tide predictions come from NOAA CO-OPS for US waters and a number of international ports, and fall back to WorldTides (a global tidal model) elsewhere. No account information or personal identifiers are sent to either service — just your GPS coordinates.
It's a weighted blend of how well current or forecast conditions (tide, water temperature, time of day, moon, wind, pressure, cloud cover) match what that species prefers — scaled so 90+ is Excellent, 70+ Good, 50+ Fair, and under 50 Poor. Season and range can cap the score even when conditions look perfect, if the fish isn't reliably around yet.
We'll ask before saving. Tap "Add this area" and we save the catch and start forecasting that fish there, scored like any other — your catches are always the final word on where a fish lives.
Yes — and it's more than just logging. The App keeps its own copy of everything on your phone, so your catches, trips, records, analytics and every fish's seasons and preferred conditions are all there with no bars showing. A catch you log offline saves immediately and appears straight away, and you can open, edit or delete it before you're back in range. It syncs itself once you have signal, and we backfill the weather, tide and moon for that exact spot and time automatically. You never lose a catch or have to enter conditions by hand.
Two things do need a connection, and the App tells you rather than pretending: today's live weather and tide readings, which are measured elsewhere, and the map picture behind your pins, which downloads from Google as you pan. Your pins and your location still work offline — GPS needs no signal at all.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising, and we use no third-party analytics or ad SDKs. Your account and catch data is stored securely with Supabase; GPS coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo and NOAA/WorldTides only to fetch weather and tide data, with no personal identifiers attached.
